Scanning hard copies of documents allows you to store electronic copies of important files, share them via email or over a network and archive files without physical storage space. Unless you configure your Brother MFC scanner to compile multiple pages into a single scanned document, you will have dozens if not hundreds of unique files to save. You can set up the scanner using either the automatic document feeder or directly from the scanner glass.

Scanning From the Feeder

Download the ControlCenter3 Update Tool from the Brother website. The update cannot be performed if the Brother ControlCenter is left running. To launch CC3 again, click Start => (All) Programs => Brother => XXX-XXXX => ControlCenter 3. MFCJ410W; MFCJ415W; MFCJ615W; MFCJ630W; Mono Laser FAX/MFC.

Cannot re-install my Brother MFC-465CN and MFC-495CW in windows 7 64 bit. I am using the correct downloaded driver/utilities for the O/S. The error message include. I was then able to install the Control Center 3 and use it to scan.

Click the 'Start' button on your desktop and type 'brother' into the search box. Point to the name of your MFC and select 'ControlCenterx' (where 'x' is a single-digit number) to load the ControlCenter application in the system tray to the left of the clock on your taskbar. Double-click the 'ControlCenter' icon in the system tray.

Click 'Configuration' and select 'Scan.' Choose 'File' as the scan type to open the Scan to Configuration window.

Go to the 'Device Button' tab and choose 'PDF (.PDF),' ' Tiff Multi-Page # Uncompressed (.tif)' or 'Tiff Multi-Page # Compressed (*.tif)' under File Types, as these file types allow multi-page scans.

Place the entire document into the automatic feeder on the scanner and press the machine's 'Scan' button. Press the 'Arrow' key to select 'File' and then press 'OK.' Press the 'Start' button to scan to a single document.

Scanning From the Glass

Lift the document cover on the Brother MFC, place the first page face down onto the glass and close the cover. Resume website template free download.

Click the 'Start' button on the computer and type 'scansoft' into the search box. Point to 'ScanSoft PaperPort' and select 'PaperPort.'

Select the Brother MFC as the scanner and select a profile, such as 'B&W Document.' Click 'Scan.'

Remove the first page from the glass after it has been scanned and place the second page on the glass. Close the lid and click the 'Scan More Pages' button.

Scan all of the pages in the document one at a time. Click the 'Done' button when you are finished.

I understand the inconvenience you're going through. I suspect the issue might due to incompatibility of Scanner drivers. Check and install the latest scanner drivers for Windows 10 from device Manufacture's website and see if it fix the issue.

Since from your description, I noticed that the device is working fine with Windows 7. Then trying installing drivers in compatibility mode. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.

Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

a. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website.

b. Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.

c. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 7 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
